ICON has deep experience overseeing complex stadium projects, including landmark venues in Colorado, and their input and counsel will be invaluable as we examine whether to move ahead with a new stadium at Colorado State.
Description: Feasibility study for a new on-campus
multipurpose facility Owner: Colorado State University ("CSU")Architect: Populous CM/GC: N/A Project Cost: Estimated - $246,000,000 Status: Feasibility study complete – August 9, 2012
In January 2012, CSU President Tony Frank appointed a Stadium Advisory Committee (“SAC”) to evaluate the feasibility of a new, on-campus multi-purpose facility (“Stadium”). In April 2012, and pursuant to a Request for Qualifications process, the SAC selected ICON to lead an expedited feasibility study for the Stadium. ICON’s study, prepared in conjunction with the SAC’s four (4) subcommittees, evaluated the potential sites, design, program, funding, and impacts (both on and off campus) of the Stadium. ICON prepared a comprehensive budget and development schedule and directed its consultants who provided additional expertise in the areas of market analysis, financial modeling and projections, premium seating composition and pricing, traffic and parking assessment, stadium cost estimating, sound assessment, and electrical and light systems.
On August 9, 2012, ICON presented the comprehensive feasibility study to the SAC and President Tony Frank and concluded that the Stadium is feasible for a cost of $246M. In September 2012, the CSU Board of Governors voted unanimously to support the plan to build the Stadium. Currently, CSU is considering its next steps regarding the development of the Stadium.
