Description: Hockey-Themed Mixed-Use Development
Developer: HARBORcenter Development, LLC
Status: Scheduled Completion – Fall 2014,
Hotel - Spring 2015
HARBORcenter is a hockey-themed mixed-use development currently under construction directly adjacent to the First Niagara Center, home of the Buffalo Sabres. ICON was part of the project team that competed for the right to develop the parcel of land, then known as the Webster Block, after a months-long solicitation process conducted by the City of Buffalo, New York. ICON is serving as the Owner’s Representative for HARBORcenter Development, LLC and is overseeing the design and construction of the $170 million development on the Brownfield site.
HARBORcenter will include two community ice rinks on top of a 800+-car parking ramp, retail stores, a sports-themed bar/restaurant and a hotel containing 205 rooms and 5,000 sf of meeting space. The development is structurally significant because the community rinks will be built on the upper levels of the garage. The rinks will be open to any ice activities including ice hockey, sled hockey, figure skating, open skating and more.
