We set out to create the ultimate entertainment destination and certainly a place never before experienced in the UK or elsewhere in Europe. ICON was able to bring the lessons learned from AEG’s US projects and meld those into the unique culture and branding environment we needed here in London. Their project management was brilliant.

Description:
Building a 20,000-seat entertainment center inside of an existing dome on the Greenwich Peninsula in London’s Docklands was a massive scale, “ship in a bottle” project that had never before been attempted. With no clearance inside the dome to use cranes to erect its superstructure, the project team had to build the arena from the top down. Undaunted, ICON’s record of delivering on schedule and on budget was never threatened despite such unique challenges. With AEG’s ambition and ICON’s ingenuity, London’s O2 immediately became the most spectacular arena in the world and the first ever venue to be named by Pollstar as “Best New Concert Venue” and “Best International Arena of the Year” in the same year. With such accolades coming in its inaugural year, what would The O2 do for an encore? The O2 has been listed by Pollstar as the busiest arena in the world each year of its existence.
